As I travel along life’s pathway
Through snares and crags so frightening,
I then realize
As He opens my eyes
To my Savior’s hand being tightening.
When I frantically flail to release his hand’s hold
Rebel, live life, as I choose,
He whispers each day
Let us not, go that way
Then smiles, as being amused.
I remember the climbs to the mountaintop.
Even more, the long valleys, so deep!
I remember back then
Hands clasped tightly within
His words, He would often repeat.
There too, my life, like a story
And times, I would never forget.
Each wasted day
I had dragged Him away
From the path, I would often regret.
I cannot return, and repeat times again
To amend, my mistakes, with concern.
He reminds me to know
I had learned much, although
With a cost, far too much, I discerned.
Yes, life is full of both grandeur and glass.
Yet, He gleans from that which we give.
It took my whole life
To learn, He was right
His plan, for me here, to live.
As I come to my last morning’s sunrise
The day that my Lord I shall see.
He still clutches my hand
For, I now understand
As the sun, overhead, sets for me.
