The Problem of Doing Things My Way

This is the 21st century that humanity now exists. In comparison to previous generations, it is one incomparable to any other. It is this century in which technology and modernization have given humanity a much different planet to live life to the fullest, plan and fulfill “out of this world” dreams, fellowship with one another regardless of distance, work at unimaginable occupations, develop new and unprecedented products, and have visions of an unbelievable future with prosperity and happiness never before imagined. Yet, here we are in the year 2026 living in a world of constant turmoil of “wars and rumors of wars” (Matt. 24: 6), millions of lives yearly dying from diseases or pestilence (Luke 21: 11), and experiencing behavior from rebellious dissenters with no sense of logic or order throughout the streets of our American cities (Dan. 12: 1) (Matt. 24: 6-12). Their message is based upon lawlessness, abstinence of integrity and righteousness, yet proclaiming that which is “right is wrong and what is wrong is right” (Isa. 5: 20)!

How have we evolved or better yet regressed unto this condition of circumstances being created by a masterful Creator? The Creator’s plan for his creation was perfect (Gen 1: 31). If there were no flaws with the Creator’s plan, maybe the fault lies upon creation following the plan? Probably so! Creation’s disobedience called Sin by God changed everything. Creation developed a “sinful nature” of self-direction, self-autonomy, and self-satisfaction” (Rom. 5: 12-19). As repeatedly mentioned in literature, documents of declaration, songs, and spoken words daily in conversations, mankind had declared without reservation, “I want to do things, my way”. Hindsight points out therefore, that there are, at the least, then, two ways of formulating directions for “living the good life”; God’s way and mankind’s way. The Holy Scriptures tell us that the omniscient God is all knowledgeable. The omnipotent God is all powerful. The omnipresent God is everywhere. It would be apparent then, that God’s way is the only Way that is righteous and offers joy, peace, and love without limitations.

I have been involved in a variety of sports fields most of my life.  These times have rewarded me with innumerable, unforgettable times of personal rewards.  Hindsight reminds me these rewards were accomplished through gifts and talents given to me by my heavenly Father through an established personal relationship through discipline and order (even with repeated times of unfulfillment on my part) while being guaranteed the Father’s watchcare, protection, and gift of future eternal life after death. Discipline and order are the core elements for foundational success in all fields of involvement. Discipline requires that procedures are to be recognized and followed while order indicates that there is a hierarchy of authority that assumes responsibility for success at different levels OF accomplishments FOR continued accomplishments.  Any deviation or change of order or the proper deliverance of appropriate discipline will affect the quality of the product, time lost that may never be recovered resulting in unnecessary stress, disappointment, and even failure.  This is true whether the subject is heavenly or personal shared on earth.  Since the heavenly Father is perfect and makes no mistakes, relationships with him that exhibit incomplete fulfillment of obligations, broken promises, hearts being broken, and relationships dissolved will most likely fall onto the backs of those of creation and not the Father.

Although human behavior exhibits a variety of motives for making choices, personal and professional, human nature’s most often evaluative tool for final decision-making is often based upon underlying, sometimes ulterior motives, of what “in it is best for me” or “is it done my way”?  There is a cliche “two wrongs don’t make a right”.  In the same line of thinking, “many wrongs rarely ever lead one to correcting those wrongs, seeking the correct rights, and exercising the strength to follow the path that few people take “that will make all the difference in the days ahead” (Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken).

Unfortunately, many people believe that scripture refers to other people who “are bad” and not necessarily themselves in regards to the discussion at hand.  It is true that humanity, though being created perfectly, lost that inheritance.  Therefore, humanity’s decisions made daily are not always the right choices. Most wrongful decisions made with others on this earth can be sidestepped or forgotten with little interference to others around us. Sin or disobedience to the Creator is “a horse of different color, however”.  These times of disobedience do not slide by the Creator for he is perfect and holy.  Accountability is imperative (Rom. 6: 23).  This changes everything.  Accountability involves a sense of remorse, repentance, and redirection.  “My Way” no longer works or is acceptable.  Discipline and order from the “One in charge” is all that matters.  If we are to live in God’s world, then we will have to live by God’s rules.  Either accept God’s authority or find another planet to live upon.  Sadly, millions of people are searching frantically for another pathway to their Creator, while daily walking the wrong pathway with the wide gate and the broad road that leadeth those walking there, unto eternal life with eternal judgmental destruction (Matt.7: 13-14).
