Taking Care of Business

While gazing at feeders this morning
Surprised, by so many birds,
It appeared that their chatter
Had aroused others scattered,
For a call to come feed, had been heard.

The Blue Jays and bluebirds were busy indeed
In shooing the others away
For their nature in feeding
Sent other birds leaving
To feed here, some other day.

Then came a Cardinal, quite red-like
To share some seeds with a Wren.
A Blue Jay came squawking
As if he were talking
Declaring this sharing, must end.

Then darting therein, flew the Wren.
Chirping a tune loud and clear.
The others around
Joined in with a sound
Of music, heard both far and near.

The Titmouse, then tweeted its best song.
Bluebirds chirped high on a limb
Then, all birds together
Began ruffling their feathers
And joined in, led by the Wren.

I could see, clear to me, a change here.
All singing their sweet songs, as one.
For now, I declare
From now on, we shall share
A relationship here, Wren’s begun.
