Life in the Fast Lane
It is estimated that there are over 8.3 billion people living in the world today. Yet, as verified by our individual DNA, we are uniquely created. In even minute ways, we are all different from everyone else who has or will ever be born. Only God could create such a masterful plan for humanity. Although the purpose of creation was for God’s own glory, to bear his image, and to have fellowship with his creation, God has a purpose for each and every one. (Jer. 1: 9).
From reading the Word, we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. (Rom.8: 28). In a perfect world, God’s decrees and expectations would be manifested by and through his creation.
In the Garden of Eden the stage was set for a perfect world. Two perfectly created people, Adam and Eve were placed in a perfect setting to share their lives in fellowship with their Creator and live lives to the fullest enjoying fruits of the Spirit. (Gal. 8: 22-23). Then, as it happens in our lives sometimes, and our world collapses around us, the “perfect world” of Adam and Eve collapsed around them because of their disobedience to the Creator. The one who destroyed their world is still wreaking havoc in our world today as well. (1 Pet. 5:8).
God’s Word clearly identifies this angel of destruction who desired to be “angel of light” in heavenly places. He was created and exists as one being and not as God who is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. (Psa.139: ) (Jer. 32: 17) (Rev. 1: 8). This angel desired to have his throne in heaven equal to or above God the Creator and “to be like the most High”. (Isa. 14: 12-15). As a result this angel is also known as Satan, Lucifer, antichrist, accuser of the brethren, the devil, the serpent, evil one, deceiver, hated one, father of lies, and other names from the results of his actions.
It is hard to imagine a Supreme Being like unto God. He is declared as a Spirit and must be worshipped in spirit by his children as he watches over them as their hope and refuge (Psa. 46: 1) (John 10: 28-29). He is full of holiness (1 Sam. 2: 2) (Isa. 6: 3); unchanging in all ways (Mal. 3: 6); all righteous (1 John 2: 1); most merciful (Psa. 103: 8); gracious (Eph. 2: 8); and longsuffering (2 Pet. 3: 9). All these qualities are prevalent to God’s believers to reveal his great love for them and their welfare. However, there lies within a catch 22. God blesses the just and the unjust with blessings for he is no respecter of persons (Acts 10: 34). His greatest blessings, however, are reserved for those who love him with all their hearts, minds, and souls (Matt. 22: 37).
Even though the “perfect world” seems to have eluded many in this 21st century, it is not unattainable. To live in fellowship with Jesus Christ through the knowledge and understanding of the promised Holy Spirit by Jesus is one full of great promises and rewards (John 14: 16).
Why is it that people’s lives seem to always be surrounded by evil people, events, and tragedies if Christ lives inside of us (Gal. 2: 20) (1 Pet. 5:8), and we are hidden with Christ for protection (Col. 3: 3)? Maybe he does not live inside all of us? Jesus said that his children or believers must be born again, of water and of the Spirit (John 3: 3).
All that is written in God’s Word is to assure believers that the abundant life with full blessings from God is within attainment (2 Tim.3: 16). We are created to bear fruit to reveal to the world the Father’s graciousness and love (John 15: 5). This will be visible in our lives with discipline and order for God is of order and not chaos (1 Cor. 14: 33). Believers’ lives in Christ are grounded in God’s unmerited favor through faith (Eph.2: 8-9). Without faith, we only struggle destined to perish (Prov. 29: 18).
The Word says that God is omnipresent meaning he is everywhere. If so, how come some people cannot find him? Life in the fast lane may not be the best and safest place for us and our families. In order to find “the good life with Christ”, we may have to slow our lives down a bit for he often speaks in a still small voice. He promises his believers that he will never leave them alone. Never! (Matt. 28: 20). Does this not sound like a perfect world to you? Slip off someplace alone and call on him and see if he will answer. I personally am aware of some people who God spoke unto them. He opened their eyes to true understanding. He changed their lives in a wonderfully great and most blessed way. Today, they are with the Lord waiting to enter into a prepared place “that eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart, what God hath prepared for them that love him (1Cor. 2: 9). He can do that for you as well.
